Retail Therapy

Times have been kinda rough here at Medieval Women HQ and so, to balm my chapped soul, I'm engaging in a little retail therapy.

I just bought this:

And these:

Pretty?? You like??

I've had my eye on that shawl for ages and I kept hemming and hawing around about getting it and finally I decided...

Screw it! MINE!!!!!

Oh! And I also bought this:

  1. It is beautiful! As is the jewelry! Hooray!

It must be the season--I recently bought some mostly-practical too-expensive shoes because they have a swirly thing on them. It's still way too cold to wear them, but oh how I needed a pretty swirly thing in my life! I may post a picture on my blog, just to share.

I hope such beautiful things are lifting your mood.

  3. Like?? LOVE!

For things that can't be helped, retail therapy is, I think, better than any other kind.

  4. OMG Gorgeous shawl! You've just solved a birthday present problem for a friend of mine who definitely needs that shawl. I'll tell her not to wear it at any conferences you might wear it to, though.

  5. Oooh! Pretty!

And btw, I don't think I commented early, but I'm sorry things are so shitty for you and TD right now.

  6. Ohh, lovely! I hope you have a nice green shirt to wear under that shawl like on the picture. I'm confused about the last thing ... you bought a brunette woman? Will she be there to carry your shawl about when you are not wearing it? ;)

  7. *Love* the jacket. The shawl is gorgeous too, but not my colors.

  9. Aww... I remember the first time a boy broke my heart, my mother (very frugal, we never had much money growing up) took me shopping, and said - you can't do this every time you feel sad, but sometimes it *really* helps. And these items are beautiful!

I'm sorry about ANU. :( I just had my heart broken (first time, again) by a department I had hoped would hire me. Still a grad student, so can't afford retail therapy, but I'm enjoying by proxy.

  10. Love the shawl. I have two (different, but similar?) and love them. Get lots of compliments every time I do. Why aren't there more????
