Medieval Woman's European Vacation

Sorry for the radio silence since I returned from K'zoo - and all I can promise is that it will continue until the end of the month, because tomorrow evening - in a flurry of flip flops, beta blockers (ya'll know how I hate to fly), and probably a beer or two, the Dutchman and I will board an Air France flight on the first leg of our trek to Tuscany!

We stay in the Tuscany house for a week eating, drinking, and sightseeing with 8 friends from the Netherlands and then El D (note the switch to Italian already!) and I will head to Paris for a romantic 4 days all to ourselves. This will involve croissants, cafe au lait, large quantities of wine, canoodling, and me refusing to go up in the Eiffel Tower.

I will report on everything fully after we get back on May 31 - including lots of pictures! But, until then, what can I bring everyone from Tuscany?? (I'm sorry to say that these will be virtual presents - i.e., I'll see the thing - say, a maserati - and declare, "That one's for so and so!" I don't start getting paid until the end of August!)

So, think of your favorite Italian (or Parisian) things and let me know! My mother, who loves the movie Under the Tuscan Sun, has asked that I bring her back one of these:

This gorgeous critter is Raoul Bova, Italian actor and all-around foxy eye-candy.

So, until we return, "Ciao!", "A bientot!", and "Pray for no turbulence!"

You can bring me some lovely photographs of gargoyles and grotesques!

I know you'll have a safe flight, so no point in stating the obvious. (*hug* Planes are scary, I understand.)

See you when you get back!

Okay - gargoyles it is! I can definitely do photographs! We'll be going to Notre Dame, etc. so there has to be lovely grostesquy goodness all over.

Thanks for the safe flight mo-jo!

White truffle oil, please!

And have a wonderful, great, friend-filled and then romantic time! -- Parisian canoodling with a loved one sounds great!

Cheese for me! (A picture of sheese will do...)

I hope you have an absolute delight of a time. I'm so glad you two are getting away on a trip like this before you move!

Mmmm...I'd like to have some of those croissants and cafe au lait, too, please. Or a real bistro meal with unpretentious but really good French table wine. So if you come across those, snap a picture for me.

Otherwise, I'll have what your mother's having! He's dreamy!

I was going to say cheese, Hilaire! Okay, I'll have to go with wine. Lots and lots of wine.

(I think it's Il D, by the way--but Italian isn't one of my languages, so I may be wrong.)

Have fun!!!

I think it *is* "Il" rather than "El" - Il Duce?

Wine, cheese, truffle oil, croissants, Italian men - CHECK!

See ya'll on the flip side!

Mmmm, and chocolate! That sounds like a lovely list of souvenirs!

On a more photographic note, my friend toured Europe (backpacking) right after undergrad and took lots of cool pictures of doors, and wrought ironwork. They have really cool doors and doorways everywhere, and iron curlicue thingys, so look out for them on your travels!

Oooh, crepes! Gelato! Those are my favorite French & Italian things (and they display the gelato so beautifully there!).

(I tried to think of something impressive and cool-sounding, but nope, crepes and gelato it is.)
