Dang! It's been a long time since I posted!! I am gleeful that classes start in a little over a week, but I won't be teaching. We live life tapas-style lately: little meals, little naps, little steps, little clothes to wash and put away, little, little, little....
So, here are some of the tidbits (in no particular order):
1) We have scheduled a c-section for our 38th week (Sept. 28th, to be exact) - this is the terminus ad quem for Guy and Miles to emerge. My blood pressure is sneaking up ever so slightly (not due to pre-eclampsia but b/c of a family tendency toward borderline hypertension). So, Dr. Canadienne feels that 38 weeks is plenty of time for them to chub up even more and then high-tail it out of there. This isn't to say that I can't decide to try natural childbirth if I want to or if we go into labor early, but it's nice to know that there's a happy planned option that will not involve my BP spiking dangerously during a potentially long labor.
2) TD is soon buying this for himself.
3) Den of Guy and Miles is complete and I'll post pictures of it soon. I've evicted TD from our bed for the remainder b/c I need every inch of the bed for me and my 27 pillows - TD sleeps on our guest mattress at the foot of the bed. I only feel slightly guilty about this.
4) I went to a breastfeeding class recently where the woman had many plush boobs to illustrate various nipple issues (erect, inverted, etc.). Seriously - they were like little disembodied stuffed boob dolls. Interesting....TD expressed thanks that he hadn't attended this particular class. But then he insisted on reading all of the notes I'd taken so he would know what a "good latch" was...
5) I still haven't heard anything on the revised MS I sent out in the second week of June. That's okay, right? Doesn't bode ill, does it?
I'm going to Chili's...

Oh my god this is the home stretch!!
I am so excited for you!
And now I have a ton of advice, which you may disregard if you want.
Do know, you will need help with the bfeeding of multiples. Get Karen Gromada's book forthwith; it has everything you need to know. Don't necessarily buy a fancy nursing pillow--I did and it was a total PITA. Also, look up 'laidback nursing.' It saved my life.
Remember also that nursing will be the total miserable suck (literally) for the first several weeks. Persist! It will get easier. Take really really good care of your boobs, during that time. Don't tolerate a bad latch--and you'll know it's bad because it'll hurt. The good latch doesn't hurt. Put all kinds of nipple creams and stuff on 'em, if needed. The MOTs' boobs are especially vulnerable to abrasion because you've got another double the action.
Also, locate a pediatrician who supports bfeeding. Many do not and will disregard your attempts or actively undermine you (this is common for MOTs.) Sometimes this even happens in the maternity ward!
Anyway, this is thrilling. Can't wait for the pics!
3. One of my (male) friends also told tales of "banishment," but he was fine: "I'm looking forward to sleeping with my wife again, but seriously? The couch is the only place I have enough room to get a full night's sleep right now." And her take on it: "I need to give myself an extra 10 minutes if I need to pee in the middle of the night, because it takes that long to move the pillows out of the way, stand up, get back, and set up the pillows again."
4. Plush boobs! The perfect stocking-stuffer!
5. Doesn't bode ill at all. Journal editors are academics, so they may have been out of town for much of the summer. Even if they were around, the people they sent them to were likely gone. Send a pleasant e-mail October 1 if you haven't heard.
Chime on what Notorious said about summer and journals.
is The Dutchman getting that in gray! It's cute, but *red* would be even cuter!
Good luck with resting up and prepping for the final stretch! I hope you have plenty of people lined up to help!
Two months in summer for a book manuscript is totally normal. Really.
Exciting, exciting!!! Looking forward to seeing the twins' new den. Glad TD is taking the banishment in stride :)
How the time flies! I can't believe you're due already -- it seems like just yesterday you announced it! How exciting that you get to meet your twain soon!
